I have been here twice now and both times have left more or less disappointed. I say more or less because the food is fine...I just get a bagel and coffee but I am always astonished how expensive it is. I don't know if I can't read but the bagel and shmear menu is impossible to understand. I don't know what bagels are priced for what and how much the topping is going to be...it's like Einstein bagel's color coding pricing minus the color coding. Also not a fan of paying $3+ for a hot chocolate (yes I know that is how much Starbucks drinks cost).

Some friends and I stopped in at Studebagels after a weekend of fun in Southbend. I had a ham egg and cheese on a cheddar bagel. It was pretty enjoyable and reasonably priced to boot. The bagel was soft and warm, but small enough that I didn't feel like I was eating an insane amount of bread. The egg was also pretty decent and better than McDonald's preformed "egg" patties. The sandwich was about $4 and some change. One of the things that I really liked about Studebagels was that it was a very college-y atmosphere. The walls were covered by drawings that students had made throughout the years, and the whole place just had a very relaxed feel to it. All in all, I would recommend Studebagels for a quick breakfast if you are in the Notre Dame area.

Average to below average bagels but great coffee! I like going here because it is a local business I like to support. The service is quick and friendly. Just wish they would experiment with their bagels more to give them more of a dense/chewy true bagel taste rather than just a flavored piece of bread. Snickadiddle coffee is my absolute favorite and keeps me coming back!

Short version: Pretty good bagels, low prices. 'Nuff said. Long version: Studebagels has a pretty decent selection of both bagels and cream cheese-based spreads, as well as other odds and ends and alright coffee. Bagels are good and pretty cheap; a dozen go for $8, one with cream cheese for about $2.50 All-in-all, a nice stop for a quick breakfast; I tend to hit them on the way out of town for home when I lack the time or inclination to cook something as I roll from my bed and fall into the car at the crack of dawn.

Munificent bagels! Put this unassuming shop on your a.m. List when you're visiting campus and need a bagel that doesn't break your teeth.

My sentiments about this place have not changed - I LOVE it! Best bagel shop in the Michiana area, hands down!! They've undergone a facelift since my last review, have some kind of partnership with the Chocolate Cafe crew, and accept credit cards.

I came here on a Sunday morning to get two dozen bagels for a picnic. I had super-efficient service, especially after I said yes to having them sliced in half. My order didn't seem to slow down the service for others who came in after me. The bagels with onion were thoughtfully wrapped to keep them from transferring their flavors to others. We had a large variety of bagels and all were tasty, but the real star was the honey almond cream cheese! I won't compare them to East-Coast bagels, but for South Bend, they're as good as you'll find.

*This used to be a 4-star review, but I absolutely hate the new Studebagels remodel and feel that they've sold out on their hometown charm--enough to knock it down a star.* If you're visiting South Bend and looking for breakfast, coffee, or lunch somewhere...DON'T go to Einsteins or Starbucks! Go to Studebagels! You'll only find it in SB, and it's pretty delicious. Atmosphere/Location: 2/5. It's very close to Notre Dame. The recent remodel gives off the vibe that Notre Dame or the SB Chocolate Cafe paid off Studebagels to have a more obvious "Go Irish!" vibe. I really miss the old atmosphere of the restaurant, because it perfectly straddled the line between "rah rah Notre Dame!" and "proud of my South Bend community!"...Visitors for ND game weekends may appreciate this newer feel. Unfortunately, the character of Studebagels as being a community bagel joint that was proud to represent the overall South Bend community (which yes, includes but is not 100% encompassed by Notre Dame), is lost. (For perspective, I'm a Domer, and I grew up in South Bend.) Service: 5/5. Once I ordered a sandwich and when it came out, something was wrong with it; when I told them of the mistake, they were very apologetic, fixed my order, and offered me a dozen bagels for free. That's pretty darn nice. In general, the people who work here are great. Food: 5/5. Delicious bagels--try any of the quads. They make their bagels and cream cheese fresh EVERY DAY. They'll also sell day old bagels by the dozen for something around 50 cents each. If you like olives at all, the olive-pimento cream cheese is amazing. Their coffee and drinks are great. I don't know why anyone would go to somewhere like Einsteins, in South Bend, when Studebagels exists. Bottom Line: If you want a bagel and you're in South Bend, go to Studebagels.

Studebagels=the perfect cure for a hangover after a night at the Backer.

This place was the only place in south bend with cheap and amazing bagels! I remember every Sunday after church my family and I would have lunch/breakfast there. That was only until the Chocolate cafe decided to buy it. The bagels definitely have a noticeable, different taste. My family and I agree that you're better off with Einstein Bagels or Panera bread.

I have lived in South Bend for 5 years now and this was my first visit to Stude Bagels! I wish I would have come sooner the sesame bagel is wonderful. I had the Carmel Creme Coffee which was ok. I was a bit disappointed in the coffee since I had read reviews saying it was great. I have high hopes though and will try an espresso drink next time I go!

I was not terribly impressed by Studebagels. The bagel I had (asiago) was pretty good, but nothing compared to what you can find on the east coast. I was not a fan of their Bagel Breakfast sandwich (bacon egg & cheese). Also, their coffee is kept at an extremely hot temperature, and I had to wait over 15 minutes to even begin to sip it.

Studebagels has helped me through the trials and tribulations of my senior year of college. They are open very early and are very inexpensive ($4-5 for a bagel and coffee). I dream about their espresso - it is so much better than Starbucks. I would recommend you try the pesto quad ("quad" is the Studebagels form of an "everything" bagel) with garlic herb cream cheese. Unfortunately, the garlic cream cheese is so potent that I lose friends if I eat the bagel before class (or any type of setting that forces me to interact with people). On another note, their chocolate chip cookies are delicious. It does not have the traditional, "hip" bagel/coffee shop atmosphere (not a spot to hang with your laptop and book), but it is nonetheless delicious and a great deal. ONLY ACCEPTS CASH. But don't fret, I have paid in all quarters before (and there is an ATM right outside the shop).

You can get a combo sandwich meal for around $6 and you can get healthy sides with it like fruit. I would not go out of my way to visit, but if you're in the area, it is good for a quick lunch.

As Far as Bagel Shops go, Studebagels is a great local joint. Sharing an entrance with Between the Buns, the place is actually alot roomier than it seems from the outside. The breakfast sandwiches are very good and fresh and non-slippery/slimy (a-la McD's). feel free to order what ever bagel you want, they've got it, and its good. You're doing yourself a disservice, however, if you don't order the cinammon sugar bagel with the honey almond cream cheese. It must be around 900 calories but the damn thing is so good. It might be the best hung over food ever (I lived across the street at Oak Hill so naturally i didnt venture far) They're open EARLY starting at like 5 AM so its perfect for the early morning (Late night during exam week) snack. Place is crowded on football weekends, expect a 25-30 minute wait in line, and don't expect to get seats!
